Dreamy Destination WeddingsMarch 5, 2014
As a bride, you may have dreamed of your wedding for years and know just what your dress and cake will look like. However, today’s bridal couples have more choices for wedding destinations than ever before. Whether you want to make your vows on the beach, share your love in a medieval castle or declare your commitment in a redwood grove, you can find the right wedding destination that reflects your wedding vision. When looking for the right location, check out some of the most romantic spots on earth.
Home to lush green jungles, stunning lava fields, black sand beaches and rugged mountains, Hawaii is a place that will create lifelong memories for your wedding. Hawaii has been a destination for eco-tourists for decades and continues to be a stunning reminder of Earth’s beauty.
To see amazing lava fields, take a trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Visit Crater Rim Park or see the lava fields as they form from above with a helicopter ride. Kilauea Summit also offers an amazing vista to see the lava field and costal formations from the active volcano. From Mauna Kea, you can see deserts, valleys and lava fields from more than 13,000 feet above the sea. Many beaches have black sand and you can find intimate and romantic coves and small beaches that are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, body surfing or board surfing.
Hawaii requires wedding couples to complete a wedding license application and provide valid photo identification. Additionally, couples will need to provide death certificates or divorce decrees for previous marriages.
The Maldives Islands are a small group of islands in the Indian Ocean. If you are looking for an intimate setting in an unusual location for your destination wedding, the Maldives may be the perfect choice for you.
With perfect white sand beaches, the Maldives Islands have a wealth of intimate and private coves for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling. For a break from the beach, try visiting the National Museum to see an excellent collection of artifacts from ancient and medieval Maldivian history. The Whale Submarine is another enjoyable excursion, not to look at whales, but to view coral sea life from an underwater submarine.
Getting married in the Maldives Islands is a ceremonial activity and does not hold any legal standing for US citizens. Couples who want to hold a wedding ceremony in the Maldives may want to consider getting legally married in the United States before traveling to their destination wedding location.
