What Do I Need to Know Before Booking a Cruise?December 31, 2018
Going on a cruise can be very enticing. You’ll find there is so much delicious food, gorgeous locations, lots of fun activities on the ship from music to water slides, but if you’ve never been before, you probably don’t even know where to start.
What do I do first?
First decide which kind of cruise you want to go on? There are all sorts of cruises types and locations. It’s best to decide what you want first and then find a deal on that kind of cruise. There are mainstream big ships, river ships, family cruises, single cruises, luxury trips, value trips, sailing cruises, and everything in between. Cruise lines go to the Caribbean, Africa, the Mediterranean, South America, Alaska and almost anywhere you find water. Choose the type of location and level of service that you think would be the best match for you and your travel companions.
What’s included and what’s not?
Typically, your airfare is not included. Most cruise lines include the buffet in the main dining hall for food and casual beverages (like water, coffee, lemonade, etc.), your room, the swimming area, and some type of live entertainment. They usually charge extra for alcohol, gambling and spa treatments. They also charge for laundry, dry cleaning, internet, and convenience items that you may have forgotten to pack. Also, you should plan on paying for most everything on the visits to ports along the way.
When is the best time to book a cruise?
It depends on the location, but generally you can get a great price if you book between Thanksgiving and Christmas, because that’s a low travel time. Additionally, it’s a great idea to get on the newsletter list of your favorite cruise lines so you’ll know when the specials are about to start.
What to pack?
There are plenty of small items you’ll want to remember including, your passport, a day bag for shore excursions, portable chargers, and a swim suit or two. Obviously, take into consideration the weather of the locations you are going to visit. Also, you will want to review the itinerary for your cruise ships, some of the night time entertainment has a strict dress code and you’ll want to have nice clothes for those events. Also, be sure to pack any convenience items you might need. Even meds for a headache are expensive aboard a ship.
How do I know if I chose a good cruise line?
Don’t choose just on great vacation deal, be sure to check cruise reviews and ask people you know who are frequent cruisers. They will give you the real story.
After that, just don’t forget the Motioneaze for happy, side-effect free, traveling so you can relax and enjoy your trip! You might even decide that this is cruise thing is your new go-to plan for vacation.
